    The Design Test Engineer will be responsible for developing manufacturing tests for solar powered Machine to Machine and Internet of Things devices. You will join a dynamic team and tackle daily activities that include interfacing software with hardware for automated test sequences, addressing issues with hardware functionality, and resolving problems associated with large scale manufacturing at remote contract manufacturers. Analyzing and improving current production tests with an eye toward precision and cost reduction will be your focus as you are encouraged to learn through experience while creatively solving problems in thoughtful ways. A significant portion of time will be spent working closely with engineering design teams to develop new and emerging products so that they are optimized for manufacture.     • Design automated manufacturing test systems for solar powered wireless products
    • Go beyond functional knowledge to explore the nuances of high volume production
    • Review schematics and create block/wiring diagrams for new designs
    • Develop custom code (C#, Arduino) to test IoT hardware
    • Design and build mechanical test fixtures: 3D printing & machining
    • Create test methods for high reliability tests (IP-67, MIL-STD-810)
    • Load and test new firmware builds for rapid prototyping and development
    • Explore new RF technologies and consistently measure devices with GPS/GNSS, satellite, and cellular connectivity
    • Travel to manufacturing facilities (infrequent) as required



    • BS in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical/Materials Engineering with EE minor
    • Experience with programming languages: C#, Java, or Python
    • Test design with National Instruments TestStand or control of GPIB test equipment
    • SQLServer or another relational database experience

    Preferred Skills: 


    • Modeling using SolidWorks and SLA 3D printing experience is strongly preferred
    • Serial communications and communication standards for test (RS-232/422/485, TCP-IP, SCPI)
    • Precision, organization, and creativity are highly encouraged
    • College courses in Mechanical and Materials Engineering will be useful
