Overview

The Vice President and Corporate Controller is responsible for the financial management, accounting, and compliance activities of Telular Corporation, a rapidly-growing, private equity-owned technology company.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position oversees daily accounting activities including the general ledger, credit and collections, accounts receivable and accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, and cash management.   The Corporate Controller ensures compliance with all accounting and reporting standards, including GAAP and tax regulations, and is responsible for the stewardship and integrity of the company’s books and records and systems of internal control.  This position is an important part of the senior management team and will engage with leaders across the company and the Board of Directors.   

Responsibilities

  • Manage transactional processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, inventory, and fixed assets
  • Oversee the cash management activities of the company; forecast near-term cash receipts and disbursements
  • Oversee and participate in the month-end and year-end financial close processes and related activities; work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to prepare financial reporting and analysis for management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial records and internal controls; maintain the company’s accounting policies
  • Maintain processes to collect required tax information and prepare company tax returns with the assistance of tax service providers
  • Serve as the primary liaison with service providers for audit and tax services
  • Advise the senior management team on the financial implications of company decisions and strategies; participate in the company’s financial budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Supervise and develop the Accounting department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and tax regulations
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting roles, with at least 5 years in leadership positions; prior experience as a controller is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an accounting organization and to manage others effectively through delegation and coaching
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal); able to work collaboratively with members of the organization at all levels
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Continuous improvement mindset; demonstrated ability to apply best practices and improve financial management processes
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or other ERP systems is required; familiarity with Adaptive Insights, or other corporate performance management applications, is a plus
  • Excellent skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior experience with mergers & acquisitions is a plus
