Telguard, a division of Telular designs and sells cellular alarm communicators for the residential and commercial security sectors as well as home automation devices.  The qualified candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of Telguard device firmware features.  Programming requires deep knowledge of event-driven real time embedded firmware.


  • Add interactive capabilities to the Telguard service suite, so that homeowners can remotely arm, disarm and monitor their alarm system.
  • Add voice capabilities to allow homeowners to talk to the monitoring station when an alarm is triggered.
  • Develop an Internet-based alarm reporting capability, to allow faster, more reliable alarm reporting to monitoring stations.
  • Port our security communication firmware to 3rd-party alarm panels, allowing Telguard to offer service for other popular security systems


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.  
  • At least 5 years development experience in design and implementation of multi-task, event-driven real time embedded firmware using C.
  • Expertise with development tools for revision control, bug tracking, peer code review, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, diagnose root cause, and apply corrective actions.
  • Experience with IAR Workbench, Eclipse or similar embedded IDEs.
  • Experience with interfacing with various buses and peripherals such as RS232, SPI, I2C, Flash Memory, etc.
  • Experience with cellular modules is a plus.
  • Experience with data encryption and network stacks is a plus.
  • Experience in the machine-to-machine (M2M) industry is beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
